Micro embossing
The method of micro embossing is located between the process of plan stamping and embossing of structure and is realized as hot foil stamping. With this impressive finishing technology colored images with the finest line drawings or raster image patterns are possible. Even structures that are in the micron range, can memorize so. Holographic acting elements are also conceivable, so that attention is guaranteed.
Technical background
Micro structures are introduced into the die by means of laser or router. The structures are so fine that the deformations take place through the embossing tool only in the stamping foil. The substrate is thus not affected. The use of a counter-mold, the male mold, characterized is not necessary. The action of the film transmission is similar to the hot foil stamping. Micro embossing can be combined with other embossing processes.
Effect
Due to the refraction of light at the individual fine structures a high visual stimulus is reached. Through the viewing angle changes occur constantly new spectacular effects.
Application possibilities
For the micro embossing suitable as substrate mainly coated and smooth materials. For uncoated materials, it is recommended that you first perform a test character. Special areas of application are finishing processes for folding boxes and covers of magazines that focus on a particular high quality.
In addition to use as a design means the micro embossing is also used as protection for the product against forgery. The surface structure is a unique structure, which is designed to protect against copying.
Limitations
With the method of micro embossing are best coated and smooth materials up to a basis weight of 500 g / m² refine. Uncoated materials could reduce the effect of micro embossing. Too much surface structure of the material to be embossed may reduce the effect of micro embossing or even prevent it. The existing strong structure can not be adequately transform, so that the new structure means the film is not transmitted.
